Leah Rose

I had so much fun shooting Leah's lifestyle session last week, look at these eyes!

It was another beautiful fall day, so we spent some time outside.

So expressive!

She was giving me her leaf. Sweet girl.

Oh yes, Leah did have her parents with her, this is Mark and Katie. They are very special clients, I documented their wedding in October 2005 and shot Katie's maternity session last year. Click here to see her maternity images, she looked AMAZING when she was pregnant.

This is one lucky little girl.

Because her parents are crazy about her.

We went inside for an outfit change and I liked the light in the kitchen.

And her outfit was adorable!

"Look Miss Heather, I can make silly faces!"

"Ok, I'll take a nice one for my mom."

See ya later Leah, until next time!

Luca's Album

I shot Luca's life session earlier this year, but I'm just getting around to posting the images from his album. The 8x8 album is for his parents, the 6x6 is for his grandparents.

A few of my favorite spreads.

Marissa

This is Marissa.

And this is her tooth.

I spent Saturday with Marissa and her mom Bobbi for a lifestyle session and we had so much fun!

Marissa's best friend Madelina came over to play as well, these girls are a blast! They like to hang upside down.

And have fun with their Mom's.

I love this image of Marissa on top of the hay stacks. I think it feels powerful, majestic... like she is on top of the world and can do anything. Ok, or it's just a cool picture of a kid playing. Whatever, I'm feeling a little deep today. LOL

She was showing me some moves.

My favorite image from the entire day. Do you remember what it was like when you were with your best friend and you had to run everywhere? Wow, I'm feeling nostalgic as well.

A special thanks to the fabulous Lisa Johnson from Kiss and Make-up for the referral. She and Bobbi are best friends, just like their daughters!! We had a blast.

Katie

Had a fabulous time shooting Katie's maternity session this afternoon. Katie and Mark were married in October of 2005 and have always been so supportive of my art and vision. Maybe the reason I love Katie so much is because she is so willing to try anything.

I love this shot by the window in my bedroom. We took some sexy images around my home before heading into town.

I wanted something different... something urban, for Katie. I didn't want flowing fabric or other traditional maternity props, I wanted a trendy, gritty feeling.

She was laughing at me because she thinks I'm crazy... and she's right!

Look at her fabulous shoes! Love 'em!

Katie and Mark are expecting a girl on November 18th. I wish both of you all the luck in the world!

For anyone who may be interested, maternity sessions are $475 and include a 6x6 album.

Catie & Robert - Slideshow

Catie & Robert

Not a wedding couple, but a brother and sister! I spent a day last week documenting their lives and it was a blast!! You can view their slideshow on www.weddingsbyheather.tv.

Their mom, KK, was the surgeon who removed my gall bladder a few months ago. You may remember her because I posted about her in my hospital podcast. I just love her, she's a fabulous mother and physician, she adores her children and is a TON of fun!!

I mean, who has a surgeon that looks like this?? She is gorgeous!

Life Sessions

Yesterday I had the privilege of documenting a day in the life of Luca. When I arrived, he was still taking a nap, so I made some new friends with the family pets.

Luca is the son of Gina and Jeff, I photographed Jeff's sisters wedding last June. Click here to see Erin's wedding images. Anyway, Gina and I quietly entered Luca's room while he was still asleep and this is what we found. Look at that cute little hand!!

I think it's safe to say that Luca and I hit it off right from the the start.

Not only is Gina fabulous to spend time with, but she also quite possibly one of the most gorgeous people I ever seen. Seriously, she could be a super model. I'm trying to convince her to put her wedding gown on so that we can have some fun.

Look at those eyes, I love it!!

This is funny... Luca was trying to get my camera and because I never stop shooting I got this image.

As a result, I let him explore my camera and he got this image. Not bad except he cut off my head!! I think he was just trying to be artsy. LOL

By the end of the day we were all pretty tired.

I accept a very limited number of documentary lifestyle sessions because it's important to me that people "get" my concept. I want children to run around, have fun, play with toys and just be natural so that I can capture their personality. Asking a child to sit still and smile for a studio portrait feels very unnatural to me. I've received several inquiries in the last few months regarding these sessions, but as soon as the parent indicates that they would like a nice posed photograph of their child in their best clothes, I suggest that they call Picture People.
